Farm fresh flowers popping up on the pop-up street cart from May to October.

From April to October I run a streetside pop up cart in North Seattle with fresh bouquets, usually open mid-morning Fridays and Saturdays. Or anytime I have plenty of fresh flowers. To find out when and what is available, follow on Instagram or Facebook where I post the flowers of the day. This is a cashless walk up cart where you can pay via venmo or paypal, just a block East of I-5 off the 130th/Roosevelt Way exit.

I have taken a year off from dahlia sales and social media. Never fear, I still have plenty of growing going on. And remember, the old classics (like these A la Mode's) were the dahlia "unicorns" of their day and are easy to find.

Apricot Whirl daffodils in the early evening light. I much prefer daffodils to tulips at my house as the squirrels 🐿️ leave the daffs alone. Whereas with tulips, I feel like I’m a waitress for the squirrels, and they skip paying the tab. Also, daffodils popping back up each spring is always such a cheerful sight. Dahlia folks! As a tiny thank you some boxes of sunflower seeds are in a random selection of dahlia orders. I call it my Solstice Sunflower mix. If you plant this week, they will bloom by the June Solstice! It is a mix of single stem sunflowers with light, sunny colors like these pictured. Fun fact about single stem sunflowers: if you plant them about 6 inches apart they will stay smaller blooms, if you give them 12 or more inches they will be big. Flowers, what's not to love?

When I make a bouquet, sometimes if I am lucky I get to hear the story of where the flowers are off to, and why they are needed. Celebrations for a Girl Scout leveling up or to welcome refugees to their new hometown. A husband with a wife who has had a very bad day. A young couple in love doing a pandemic neighborhood stroll with their dogs.

Weddings and birthdays and babies; the good things. But the hard things too, like illness and grief. Really, it's amazing how much flowers can do. Whether you are buying dahlias tubers to grow some beauty in your backyard, or picking out a bouquet, I say, Flowers for everyone!
